Busy is not always better!

Summer may be winding down, but the school-year chaos is just getting started! Between homework, sports, activities, appointments, and trying to keep everyone fed, it’s easy to look at the calendar and wonder, “When do we actually have time to breathe?”

Here are 5 simple ways to keep your family from becoming too busy this school year:

1. Pick Your Priorities

You don't have to say yes to everything! Choose the activities that your kids truly enjoy and let the rest go. A less-packed calendar can mean a much happier family.

2. Protect Your Family Time

Schedule downtime just like you schedule soccer practice. Make room for family dinners, movie nights, playing outside, or simply doing absolutely nothing. Those unplanned moments can be the best ones!

3. Don't Overbook the Weeknights

School days are already exhausting. Try to keep at least a couple of weeknights activity-free. Everyone will appreciate having time to finish homework, relax, and get to bed at a reasonable hour.

4. Plan Ahead—But Keep It Simple

Take 10 minutes each Sunday to look at the week ahead. Check school schedules, activities, meals, and appointments so there are fewer surprises. Bonus points for planning a few easy dinners!

5. Remember: You Don't Have to Do It All

Your child doesn't need to participate in every sport, club, class, and event. And you don't need to be the parent who does everything perfectly. Sometimes, the best thing you can put on the calendar is nothing.

Here's to a school year that's fun, full, and NOT completely crazy! 🍎📚❤️
